Business Hours & Currency

 

Most stores are open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.,and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Suburban shopping centres are open from Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
As well major supermarkets are open on Sundays from 8:30  a.m.to 12:30 p.m. Business offices and banks open around  7:30 a.m.- 8:00 a.m. and close about 4:00 p.m.-4:30p.m. and are closed Wednesdays and Saturdays afternoons.
Martinique's currency is the euro, like in France. As far as all the other foreign currencies are concerned, they can be  exchanged in euro at the various Change Caraibes located at the airport or downtown. As for the credit cards, Visa and Mastercard are accepted everywhere on the island, American Express is honoured only in the major supermarkets and department stores (on Victor Hugo Avenue in Fort de France) and Diner's Club which is rarelly accepted.
