Religion

Catholicism is the predominant religious community in Martinique.
The largest church, the St.Louis Cathedral, is in Fort de France. Other religious communities are developed as well: the Adventists (the second largest community on the island) and the Jehovah's Witnesses who draw many followers. Judaism, with a synagogue in Schoelcher, and Hinduism are as well represented. Magical beliefs and superstitions, inherited from African cultures, are an important part in the daily lives of many natives.
